Desktop Chrome required. PDF-only remains the default. OCR is currently optimized for English.

Kindle to PDF interface: Kindle text for your own AI study workflow

How it works

  1. Choose a passage or chapter you have permission to use. A range keeps the export focused.
  2. Export PDF + text (ZIP) and open full_text.txt after unzipping the download.
  3. Check the text against book.pdf, then manually provide only the permitted material to your chosen AI service.
  4. Ask for questions or an outline grounded in that excerpt. Verify quotations, factual claims, and citations yourself.

Keep the source in the loop

A useful prompt is: 'Using only this excerpt, draft five study questions. Quote the supporting passage for each answer and say when the excerpt does not provide enough information.' AI output can still be wrong. Keep the PDF for checking context; Kindle locations and PDF-page separators are not substitutes for a verified citation.

Languages and capture limits

Visual PDFs tested with English, Japanese, German, French, Spanish, Dutch, Hindi, and Portuguese books. Popup translations: English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Dutch, and Brazilian Portuguese. The extension supports 13 regional reader sites. It does not translate books; visual language support is separate from OCR accuracy.

Keep the Kindle tab selected during capture. Switching tabs pauses capture; return within ten minutes to resume. Whole-book exports can take several minutes. A PDF page represents one captured reader spread, not necessarily one printed book page. Ranges require a numerical reading position.

Frequently asked questions

Does the extension connect to ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini?

No. There is no built-in AI connection, automatic summarization, or upload to an AI provider. You choose whether to share permitted text with another service and are responsible for its terms and the book's usage rights.

Is text extraction free?

Yes. Current-page, range, and whole-book exports are free, with no extension account or paid plan. You still need access to the book through your Amazon account.

What if OCR finds no readable text?

Use PDF-only instead. Illustration-only pages can have no extracted text; bundle warnings are recorded in the manifest. Search and extracted text quality depend on OCR.

Where does processing happen?

Selected content is sent over HTTPS to the Kindle to PDF rendering service. OCR is not advertised as browser-local. The extension does not send your exports to AI services.
